Details: The German Abraham and David Roentgen workshop was among the most productive cabinet-making enterprises in Europe during the second half of the 18th century. The pieces of The Roentgens combined innovative designs with intriguing mechanical devices which revolutionized traditional European furniture styles. The pairing of the professional craftsman Abraham with his brashly ambitious son David, whose clients included both Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette of France and Catherine the Great of Russia, was an important key to their success. This landmark publication is the firm's first systematic survey from its establishment in about 1742 until its closure in the late 1790s, in almost four decades.
